Beetle Begins

Mort Walker was working as a magazine cartoonist in New York when John Bailey, the cartoon editor of the Saturday Evening Post, encouraged him to do some cartoons based on his college experiences at the University of Missouri. One character, a goof-off with a hat over his eyes named “Spider,” emerged from these efforts.Spider

People everywhere are accepting the challenge and have raised a record amount of money to combat Lou Gehrig’s Disease. It seemed fitting for cartoon characters to also do their part. In that spirit, Beetle and Sarge were challenged by Edison Lee of The Brilliant MInd of Edison Lee. As you can see, Beetle and Sarge met the challenge with gusto!
