  1. Today’s Beetle Bailey is the most moving comic strip I have ever seen. . Honoring the vets and our immigrant heritage at the same time is pure genius. This made my Sunday morning really special. Thank you so much.

  2. I really appreciated today’s strip, as well. I’ve often wondered about some of the characters’ ancestries. This theme was touched on at least once before on April 13, 1991. In that strip, however, Rocky is identified as Italian and Killer as Hispanic. “Rocky” is a very popular Italian nickname. I wonder what the ethnic backgrounds of Officers Scabbard, Staneglass, Greenbrass, and Halftrack are!? Those would be harder to determine!!

  3. I teach JROTC and I was so impressed that I wanted to insert a copy of this particular into a packet in which students are working.

  4. About ten years ago you had a similar cartoon about your characters’ ethnic origins, but then Rocky was Italian, and Killer was Hispanic. But in each case you never identified what ancestry Zero had. I’m guessing Norwegian, like Lucky Eddie in the Hagar comic strip. Having lived in Wisconsin, I remember that almost everyone there had a favorite joke about Scandinavians, since most people there descended from Northern Europe.
